Sixteen startups competed in the 2019 Texas A&M New Ventures Competition for more than $350,000 in cash and in-kind services — the largest pool of prizes in the contest's history. Several Houston startups competed in the technology- and science-focused pitch competition, and the top three prizes were claimed by Houstonians. Of the semifinalists, seven were related to the TMC Innovation Institute. Intelligent Implants claimed a $25k cash prize as a third place winner.

Intelligent Implants is featured on InnovationMap following its successful presentation for demo day at Houston's award-winning medical devices accelerator program , TMCx. The program provides startup companies with shared workspace, a curriculum tailored to the needs of health care entrepreneurs and the guidance of over 200 advisors from the front lines of the industry. Participants develop their companies by attending a variety of workshops and hands-on events to gain insights from experts in every facet of running a health-related business: clinical trials, FDA regulations, HIPAA/HITECH compliance, hospital procurement, commercial pilots, intellectual property, licensing, fundraising, marketing and other critical areas.
Intelligent Implants is selected as Most Promising Life Science Company at the 2018 Texas Life Science Forum hosted by the Rice Alliance and BioHouston. Ten early-stage companies were chosen by investors as the “Rice Alliance Most Promising Life Science Companies” from among those having raised less than $2 million in funding to-date. The Texas Life Science Forum is the premier life science event in Texas that brings together members from industry, emerging life science companies, academic, and investors.

Intelligent Implants was awarded $250,000 from the $25 million Texas Medical Center (TMC) Venture Fund, supporting early-stage health care companies. The TMC Venture Fund accomplishes one of the key tenets of the Texas Medical Center’s strategic plan by transforming innovative ideas into tangible solutions for improving health. The fund provides monetary resources to young startups in the health care space with a nexus to Houston and the Texas Medical Center. These early, but critical-stage investments heighten companies’ chances of receiving additional funding and long-term success.
As part of the collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Innovation, the angelMD Catalyst Fund will make a $50,000 investment each in Intelligent Implants. In addition, angelMD will feature Intelligent Implants on its investment platform for angelMD members to invest an additional $350,000 in the company. The investments were officially announced by Charlie Emley, Catalyst Fund Managing Partner, at the 2017 MedTech Conference in San Jose, California.

In version 7 of the HAX demo day, the accelerator debuted thirteen new startups from its Shenzhen-based Accelerator program, alongside ten companies from the HAX Boost program, a second stage program from SOSV Revolution offices in SF. Intelligent Implants introduced its technology to a crowd of investors, press and local and foreign entrepreneurs.
